GEW Rochester: Doing Business Globally - A Cultural Perspective

Led by Dr. Peter J. Stark, an expert in international business strategies, we will explore how to navigate international business in a culturally aware, culturally sensitive, and culturally effective manner. This requires that one be highly conscious of what makes cultures similar or different and consequently what creates value in other cultures. Dr. Stark is recognized internationally as a passionate and engaging educator as well as a culturally sensitive, insightful and accomplished strategist, with specific expertise in cross-cultural organizational effectiveness, culture change initiatives, and cross-cultural leadership. He currently teaches strategy, leadership, organization behavior and global business in Augsburg College’s MBA program. He also teaches in the areas of cross-cultural leadership and change in Visiting Professorships at both the Helsinki School of Economics and the Berlin Institute of Management. Dr. Stark’s has 23 years of senior executive experience in the global transportation industry that includes starting and/or leading businesses in China, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Southeast Asia and the Middle East. Peter holds a Doctorate in Organization Change and an MBA, both from Pepperdine University (Malibu), as well a BS from Northwestern University (Evanston).
